Fall 2021 Programs

In-Person Programming - Please note that ALL in-person programs are subject to change, in order to comply with Covid-19 Provincial restrictions. If any programs are postponed due to restriction changes, the program will be cancelled and new date selected for the program. Those that have registered an paid, will be automatically moved to the new program date. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Safety of our participants and staff are the top priority. Babysitter Course

This babysitting course give young teens the skills and confidence to work as a babysitter, including first aid knowledge and care for infants and toddlers. Participants will cover everything from managing difficult behaviors to essential content on leadership and professional conduct as a babysitter. Babysitting promises to deepen and enhance the responsibility that older youth feel when caring for younger children.

Course Date: Saturday, October 23, 2021 - 9:00-3:30 pm  l   Exam Date: Nov 9, 2021 - 6:30 pm.

Location: Rural Municipality of Lac du Bonnet  l   Cost: $50.00 per participant 

Participant must be 12 years of age by December 1, 2021

There is a practicum requirement of this certification. It is recommended each participant has a young family in mind that they trust to do their practicum hours with prior to starting the class. A minimum of 8 babysitting hours will be required prior to writing the exam. 

There is a written exam at the end of practicum hours, taking place on November 9th at 6:30pm. This will beheld at the RM of Lac du Bonnet Office.

Canadian Firearms Safety Course (PAL) Unrestricted

The CFSC is an eight hour firearm safety course. It is a federal requirement for those who wish to apply for a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL). The course will start at 8:30 AM on Sunday, September 19, 2021, and there is eight hours of classroom Instruction and then written and practical testing afterward.

Location: Lac du Bonnet Community Centre (Lounge)

Participants must be 16 years of age. Attendees must be fully vaccinated, with proof upon entry to the Lac du Bonnet Community Centre, or they will not be able to attend the class.
Cost: $120.00 per participant.

The course objectives for this course is as follows:
-To be able to handle and use firearms and ammunition safely.
-To be able to comply with firearms laws.
-To be able to store and display non-restricted firearms and ammunition safely.
-To transport non-restricted firearms and ammunition safely.

Canadian Firearms Safety Course (RPAL) Restricted

The Restricted Canadian Firearms Safety Course is a six hour restricted firearm safety course. It is a federal requirement for those who wish to apply for a Restricted Possession and Acquisition License (RPAL).

The course will start at 8:30 AM and there is six (6) hours of classroom Instruction and then written and practical testing afterward.

Participants must be 16 years of age and have passed the regular PAL exam before taking this course/exam.

The course objectives for this course is as follows:
-To be able to handle and use restricted firearms and ammunition safely.
-To be able to comply with firearms laws.
-To be able to store and display restricted firearms and ammunition safely.
-To transport restricted firearms and ammunition safely.

Cost: $120.00 per participant. Attendees must be fully vaccinated, with proof upon entry to the Lac du Bonnet Community Centre, or they will not be able to attend the class.

Self-Defense Classes

Join trainers from MY Self Defense as they teach you new innovation methods of self defense. Every participant will develop their very own method of defense, suitable for an ever-changing life style.

Program runs: Sept 29-October 20, 2021  l   Cost: $50.00 for 4 weeks

 PD/In-Service DAY CAMPS

Need child care on days when school is out, or are your kids looking for something fun to fill their day off? Join the RM of Lac du Bonnet Recreation Department for Day Camps! A safe and fun way to keep your kids active on planned Sunrise School Division in-service days.

For children ages 5-11 years, dates listed below.

October 4, 2021  l  October 22, 2021   l   December 2, 2021   l   February 4, 2022   l   March 18, 2022

April 25, 2022   l   May 9, 2022

**All campers and leaders will be required to wear masks at all time, except when eating snack & lunch. Parents will not be able to enter the facility at drop off & pick up. Instructions will be sent out to parents prior to camp day with Covid-19 protocols. Keeping participants and staff safe is always our number one priority! Camp staff will be required to be double vaccinated.

Camp Cost: $25.00 per day per child or register for all 7 for $150.00.

Toddler Time

Join us weekly for our Toddler Time program where kids can participate in tons of different games and activities that emphasize development of physical literacy skills! This program is designed for children ages 2-5 years old. A parent/guardian is required to stay during the program and assist and join their child in the fun & games. Parents/Guardian and anyone 12 years or older is required to show proof of vaccination.

Time: Mondays 10:00am-11:00am  l   October 18-Dec 202, 2021  l   Cost: Free

Pre-registration is required even if you do not plan to attend every week. 

Mask use at programs: We strongly recommend children between the ages of 2 and 4 wear a mask. Children 5 years and over will be required to wear a mask at the program. All parents/guardians as well as staff will be required to wear a mask. 


Emergency First Aid Course

Become first aid trained with the Red Cross. This basic one-day course offering lifesaving first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for the workplace or home. Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines.
